How do I choose between S/M, L/XL, and XL+ hat sizes?

Check out our sizing guide at suay.com/pages/size-guide. S/M fits head circumferences of 21.5–22.5 inches (7 3/8 and under fitted), L/XL fits 23–24 inches (7 3/8 – 7 3/4), and XL+ fits 24+ inches (7 3/4 and above). To measure, wrap a flexible tape around your head about 1 inch above your ears.

What is Suay's silicone closure?

Suay's proprietary silicone closure replaces the rigid feel of a traditional plastic snapback with a softer, more comfortable fit. The silicone has a slight stretch to it, so it moves with you and allows for a more natural, precise fit at the back of your head. It will not snag hair and makes micro-adjustments between standard snap positions possible for a more dialed-in feel. Apex, Endurance, Drift, Horizon, and Toasty styles use a silicone snapback, while the Nomad uses a silicone belt with a clasp.

Do Suay hats float in water?

Beware of the " black smoke" color

Yes the hat seems well designed and looks clean, but the advertisement is misleading at least to me. The black smoke color it's a really true dark black. In the advertisement and photos on website, it can look like a dark gray or "smoke"/graphite color. As an expensive hat I wish it was advertised more accuratly. I feel misled

Suay is on the way!

Hear me out — I’ve got way too many Melin hats (more than one person should own!), so I know the premium performance headwear space pretty well. In a crowded field with Alter Ego, Branded Bills, Nostrand, and others, I’m always hunting for solid alternatives. Don’t get me wrong though — I’m still a huge Melin fan.

I kept seeing Suay ads on social and finally decided to try them. Grabbed the Drift and Apex, and they’re legit. The silicone snapback is a seriously underrated feature — way more comfortable than traditional plastic snaps. No pinching or headaches, and it fits great, especially if you have a bigger head that always falls in that awkward middle range on most straps.

The 88% polyester / 12% spandex blend feels premium, stretchy, and built to last. They’re water-resistant, breathable, and have held up really well so far. The Drift has that sharp, everyday look similar to the Melin Coronado, while the Apex is perfect for active use with that trucker vibe like the Melin Odysea. Nothing flashy — just really well-made hats.

If you’re into performance headwear, Suay is definitely worth checking out. Doing a deep dive on the brand; Jason and Libby clearly put a lot of thought and heart into these, and it shows. Gotta love a their bootstrap story!
